Axis Design Group was hired to provide architectural services associated with general uilding construction projects; renovations and repairs in response to the passing of the bond measure in November 2016. The renovation of Powell Valley Elementary School built in the 60’s included addressing significant site circulation issues related to parent drop-off and pick-up areas and bus circulation, new staff parking lot, replacement of the roof system, security upgrades, new finishes, new lighting/controls, fire alarm system/PA/clock upgrades, new e-power generator, new trash/recycling enclosure and new playground area. Axis played a key role in the coordination, documentation, and specialized detailing of the new roofing assembly with the existing metal mansard roof for the project. Roof scope included: new built-up bituminous roofing membrane, associated flashings, dome/guard collar assemblies, conductors, scuppers, curbs for mechanical equipment, and copings. Our successful partnership with the District on the project lead to us being asked by the District to submit a Seismic Rehabilitation Grant Program (SRGP) application in-lieu-of engaging a separate consultant. A grant was not awarded by the program, but the district opted to do a voluntary seismic upgrade during the roof replacement work.
