Axis Design Group worked with Clackamas Community College to renovate former science classrooms into educational spaces for Digital Arts Media, Digital Media Communications, a Film Studio, a general-use classroom, and a STEM Center. Storage, office, and support spaces for these functions were included. The layout was re-imagined, combining smaller lab spaces to create a new classroom while minimizing plumbing, electrical and structural modifications. High functioning facilities were created within a modest budget by listening to the users and incorporating priority needs and working closely with the contractor and college to minimize costs and schedule. Educational spaces in the building that were out of scope continued to function through the renovation. The construction schedule was planned with regards to the academic calendar. Construction began in 2020 and we navigated COVID protocols as they unfolded, working as a team with adaptability and problem-solving.
