Axis Design Group was hired to provide architectural services to improve security, accessibility, and long-term building performance. Upgrades to the main entry vestibule were developed to strengthen controlled access and provide a more welcoming, ADA-compliant approach; this work included a new interior storefront wall with automatic doors and an expanded security system with updated access control points, duress alarms, and cameras aligned with district standards. Within the main office, Axis reconfigured the reception area by introducing a new transaction counter window with a coiling countertop door, a dedicated admin entry, and an improved reception counter layout. Building envelope renovations included overlaying existing low-slope roofing systems, adding refined detailing at drains and critical transitions, replacing the roof hatch with a thermally broken unit, providing a new parapet access ladder, and providing a new curb structures to support the existing rooftop condensing units. Additional restoration of the metal panel roof system ensured underlying conditions were addressed through selective removal and reinstallation.
Across the site, utility and accessibility improvements were made. The existing domestic water backflow was replaced with a new above-ground RPBA assembly, complete with freeze-protection power. Exterior upgrades included new bicycle parking shelters with security fencing, lighting, limited power provisions, and pathway infrastructure for future site cameras. Axis reviewed interior and exterior areas for barrier-removal opportunities, which led to the integration of ADA-accessible automatic doors at the new vestibule storefront wall and the relocation of wall-mounted lavatories in restrooms to meet current clearance standards.
