TIMOTHY BRUNNER | PRESIDENT - PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT, AIA
Tim is a licensed Architect in both Oregon and Washington with over 20 years of professional experience in the field. For the past 15 years he has been the President of AXIS Design Group. Tim has vast experience in retail, auto, office, healthcare, multi-family residential, hotel/hospitality and k-12, college/university project types. Tim graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon in 1993, where he learned to think outside the box for good solutions to challenging problems. He challenges the code and zoning when necessary, always looking out for the best interest of his clients. In addition to his passion for excellent design and service, Tim strives to take an active role in the community that he lives. For the past 15 years he has served on various councils and committees including the Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce, the East Portland Chamber of Commerce, the East Hill Church Council, Portland Christian School Board, Gateway PAC, and the East Metro Economic Alliance. Tim likes to play with his (4) kids, enjoys camping in his trailer, biking and fly fishing.
JIM WRIGHT | PROJECT ARCHITECT, AIA, CSI-CCS
Jim has over 40 years of experience as a licensed architect in Oregon. During this time Jim has developed an expertise in a variety of project types including single-family residences, multi-family housing, senior housing, commercial, high-tech commercial, industrial, preK-12 schools, and automotive projects. He has successfully managed fast-track high-tech commercial projects that required the coordination of 15 different bid packages in order to get the project completed on time. In addition to managing the complexity of a fast-track, Jim is especially skilled in ADA compliance reviews, code compliance, and exterior envelop design. Jim graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor in Architecture and he has the Construction Specifications Institutes’ Certified Construction Specifier credential. Jim retired from the Army with a rack of Major. He also serves on the City of Beaverton’s Construction Appeals Board. In his spare time, he enjoys remodeling his house, camping and hiking.
STEVEN EGGLESTON | PROJECT ARCHITECT, AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Steven has over 20 years of professional experience on college/universities, laboratories, civic buildings, libraries, healthcare and commercial projects including renovations, additions, adaptions and new construction with a focus on education projects. Steven graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor in Architecture and he is a licensed Architect in Oregon. He is LEED AP BD+C accredited and highly values the importance sustainability plays in a project. Steven excels in projects with diversity and is particularly skilled at working with clients, consultants and construction personnel to achieve project goals. Steven is extremely detailed oriented with a keen eye for constructability issues. He values the importance of volunteering in the community which currently includes Rose City UMC Trustee and studio reviewer at The Art Institute of Portland. Steven enjoys hiking in the Gorge, biking around town and playing soccer.
PAUL SCHWARZ | JOB CAPTAIN II, LEED AP BD+C
Paul has over 20 years professional experience in a variety of project types including healthcare, laboratories, libraries, college/universities and retail; both in renovations and new construction. He excels in all phases of a project and is particularly proficient in construction documentation and administration with an eye towards detailing and constructability. A graduate of the University of Oregon with a Bachelors of Architecture and minor in Architectural History, Paul takes on each project with vigor and works with clients, contractors and consultants while striving for excellence in achieving project goals. Paul is LEED BD+C accredited professional, an Associate Member of the AIA has served on committees through the Portland Chapter of the AIA and participated in Architects for Schools program that brings the world of architecture to grade-school students. Paul enjoys hiking, camping, and visiting our National Parks.
STEVEN MAGUIRE | JOB CAPTAIN, ASSOCIATE AIA
Steven has 10 years of professional experience covering numerous project types including commercial, retail, k-12 and college/university. A “maker” at heart he’s fascinated with developing new building forms and finding innovative ways to use materials in design. A Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master of Architecture degree from Portland State University instilled in him a passion for making meaningful spaces that enhance the way people interact with them. These qualities inform his work from the earliest design stages through construction drawings. Steven also has experience in graphic illustration and 3D computer rendering. His creative thinking process and knowledge of jurisdictional code have helped our clients navigate complex historic and design review procedures. Steven is an Associate Member of the AIA, he is in the process of earning his professional license. In his personal time he still makes things in his shop and tinkers with his DeLorean.
KENDRA KOZAK | JOB CAPTAIN I
Kendra has over 8 years of professional design experience in the commercial, industrial, k-12 and college/university sectors. Since joining AXIS in 2012, she has played an integral role in numerous automotive projects; both renovation and new construction. Kendra holds a Master of Architecture degree from North Dakota State University. She is an effective team player who excels at initiating and maintaining communication between clients, contractors, and design team members. In addition, Kendra is proficient with 3D modeling software, and has extensive knowledge in land use planning and design development standards. Her experience in all stages of the design process has led to building strong relationships with both clients and consultants. Kendra plays on various women’s and co-ed softball teams in the summer and enjoys hiking and taking trips to the coast.
JAMIE BUSHEK | INTERIOR DESIGNER, LEED AP
Jamie has worked in the industry for over 4 years. Her experience includes a variety of project types; commercial, k-12 schools, residential, and retail. Jamie graduated from The Art Institute of Portland with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and is LEED AP certified. She enjoys working in a team environment, collaborating to provide the best design solutions for each unique project. Jamie provides a great attention to detail and organization in her design and project coordination. She feels the importance of investing in the lives of others and has done so throughout her life through church ministries, non-profit organizations, and a local Alzheimer’s facility where she had an opportunity to help assist in creating fun daily activities for the residents. Jamie loves to spend time with family and friends, watching movies, playing games, being outdoors and swimming.
DAVID BARTLEY | INTERN ARCHITECT, LEED AP BD+C
David spent 4 months leading a team of inspectors conducting fire/life/safety inspections in Bangladesh before joining the AXIS team. He has extensive experience as a building and fire code consultant. He also has worked as a project manager in multiple industries. David has experience in college and universities, commercial, healthcare, industrial, offices, and residential project types. He graduated with a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon in 2011, and is LEED AP BD+C certified. David has also served as a committee chair in the Portland chapter of the AIA. David enjoys spending time with his wife and are both very active in Lions.
DARRELL HAYES | CAD TECH III
Darrell has over 20 years of professional experience drafting building plans for various projects. Throughout his career he has 13 years of food service experience and 11 years of architectural experience. Which include automotive, commercial, healthcare, hotels and hospitality, industrial, k-12 schools, offices, performing arts, religious buildings, restaurants and retail project types. Darrell has been with AXIS for 11 years, his technical background, dedication and collaborative persona has proven him to be an invaluable asset to our team. Darrell likes to spend his free time bowling, taking photographs and training his dogs for dock dogs competitions.
ARLEN HIZON | OFFICE MANAGER
Arlen has been with AXIS Design Group since 2010. Arlen is a seasoned office manager with over 20 years of experience. She ensures the smooth operations of the day-to-day business of the company. Her responsibilities are to manage the daily operations of the office, human resources, payroll and financials. Arlen is confident, direct, has common sense, is loyal and has integrity. Arlen enjoys the comfort of home, going to the movies, comedy acts and live music. She also dabbles a bit with makeup artistry.
AMANDA BRUNNER | MARKETING MANAGER
Amanda graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in Digital Arts and a minor in Western Art History. She has experience in graphic design, typography, animation, video and photography, all of which helps showcase the companies brand image to its clients and the public. Amanda is detail-oriented, strives for perfection in her work and is a dedicated team player. Amanda finds pleasure in singing along to Disney songs, the smell of the ocean air and her cat Big Mama.
TODD POMERENING | PROJECT ARCHITECT
Todd is a licensed architect in Oregon, Washington, and California with over 25 years of professional experience in a variety of project types. Todd’s experience includes multi-family housing, senior housing, residential care facilities, and custom residential work, as well as experience with commercial, retail, ecclesiastical, and educational project types. Todd earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1987 from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He enjoys designing, the challenges of creative problem-solving, and the use of 3D modeling software. He is detail-oriented, and has good practical skills including a good working knowledge of development standards and entitlement processes. Most of all, Todd enjoys working with clients to achieve their goals. In his spare time, Todd enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, chess, and tinkering with automobiles.
